Trick or Treat!

Ryan had a great time trick-or-treating tonight. He caught on to the procedure very quickly and enjoyed going from house to house filling his pumpkin with candy, and the Yoda costume was a big hit.



(He hid behind my leg at the first house we visited, but once he found out that candy was involved, he waved and said "bye-bye" and took off for the next house.)

And congratulations to our new friends Kim and Kent, who just brought their baby boy Kai home from Taiwan!

Ryan's new hobby is cutting the grass.




He has also developed a sudden interest in popsicles (which he never wanted when the weather was warm).

Costume Party

This afternoon Ryan dressed up in his Yoda costume for our homeowners' association's Halloween party. The first several pictures sum up his mood upon our arrival -- it was close to his naptime and he seemed overwhelmed by the crowd. I wish I could look even half this cute when I'm in a foul mood!









Then it was time for treats, and he suddenly warmed up to the concept of a Halloween party. This appears to be the moment he spotted the cookies:





He was too busy stuffing mini Fudge Stripes in his mouth to say "cheese" for the camera.





After polishing off 3 bags, he went in search of more.



It turns out we got 2 costumes for the price of 1 -- when he's tired of wearing the hat, he becomes Ben Kenobi.

Today Ryan and I went to pick out a pumpkin to carve for Halloween. Here he is posing with it.






Quite a difference from last year!
